Rond kwart voor 7 kwamen we samen in het bezoekscentrum De Wulp van Natuurpunt. Uiteindelijk waren we met een zestiental die de wandeling met onze gids Joke Custers volgden.
Op vrijdag 18 januari waren we te gast op het bedrijf Levenstond Seafood te Vlijtingen. De opkomst was voor onze Nieuwjaarsbijeenkomst zeker talrijk te noemen want we telden een kleine dertigtal deelnemers.
Alumni van onze faculteit kan je vinden in alle uithoeken van de wereld, en bijgevolg dus ook in het verre Limburg waar alles net iets trager en gemoedelijker is. Deze alumni hebben zelfs hun eigen geleding: VBI-Limburg, de vereniging van afgestudeerde bio-ingenieurs die wonen en/of werken in Limburg.
Met 46 inschrijvingen voor het bezoek aan Greenyard te Bree was het zeker een topper van de laatste jaren voor VBI-Limburg. Na de gebruikelijke nieuwjaarswensen werden we door voorzitter Koen Quaghebeur verwelkomt met een kort overzicht van de geplande activiteiten voor 2018 en wat filosofische beschouwingen over de megaconcerns Googles en Amazons van deze wereld.
Op vrijdag 15 september waren we te gast op Flanders Bike Valley te Beringen. Het werd opgericht met als doel een innovatief kenniscentrum te vormen voor Bioracer (fietskleding), Lazer Sport (helmen), Ridley Race Production (fietsen), Voxdale (aeronamica specialist Indicar) en Flanders Drive (kenniscentrum automotive).
